Technology for Peace of Mind

I’ve often found myself wondering or talking with friends and family about the onslaught of technology we’ve been bombarded with over the past 10 to 15 years.  One cannot walk into a restaurant to eat these days without hearing a couple dozen phone calls going on around the place.  It seems personal relationships were traded for phone calls while we traveled, and soon that proved to be too much work and now we just text one another.  It seems this may be a negative effect technology has made on our social structure.   For every example of this there are many examples of how technology has made our lives easier, and more importantly, safer.  It appears mobile phones and internet are here to stay and will continue to evolve.  Just 10 years ago if one was to type in Mobility Equipment in a search engine they would find a list of lowered floor minivans and wheelchair lifts.  Although it will still be on the list but nowhere near the top.  Lowered floor minivans have been replaced by “internet hot spots” and tablets that will allow you to stay on top of your work while you watch your daughters’ soccer game.  Whether it’s unraveling the social fabric of friends and family or allowing us more freedom to spend more time with them and still keep productivity high, there is one thing that can’t be overlooked, technology has brought us a new level of safety.

While it brings peace of mind know that your children can reach you if there is an emergency or your spouse can call if they ran out of gas, the most important peace is one that many of us overlook or don’t plan for sufficiently enough is an accident while traveling.  This is even more important in our industry.  Many automobile accidents prevent a driver or passengers from reaching their mobile phones, thus wasting several important minutes, and in some cases even hours of time which could be used for medical attention.  Adaptive Driving Access has recently been selected as a certified installer of OnStar.  Over the past few months we have been installing these in many of our customers lowered floor minivans and full sized vans with lifts.  Our customers have found OnStar very simple to use and easy to have installed.  OnStar not only works as a hands free solution to talk while driving, it also offers turn by turn navigation, and possibly the most important insurance offered for vehicles today, automatic crash response.  Automatic crash response will notify rescue personnel and call your lowered floor minivan to make sure you and your passengers are okay, even if you can’t reach your mobile phone.  Whether you are involved in an accident in town or in the middle of nowhere, you won’t have to wait for a passerby to make the call for you.

We seem to have insurance on every part of our life these days, many of which we never use, but OnStar offers a different kind of insurance for what clearly is the most important object in our lowered floor minivan, our loved ones.  Adaptive Driving Access now offers OnStar at a special price and can be installed in less than an hour.  Once OnStar is installed you will have access to hands free phone conversations, navigation, and automatic crash response before you leave our parking lot.   ADA’s service technicians are certified to install OnStar into your lowered floor minivan and our staff is excited to show you how it all works to make your travel easier and even safer than ever.
