Be An Angel Visit

Last week, our Northwest Houston store got a very special visit from the folks of Be An Angel. Be An Angel is a non-profit organization that serves children with disabilities in Texas by providing specialized programs, services and equipment. Part of the equipment that they provide is vehicle mobility equipment.

We were fortunate enough to witness the Be An Angel directors donate a wheelchair lift to a mother of three. Mayra has three wheelchair bound young boys, all with the same rare genetic condition. Despite the struggles that she faces in her everyday life, Mayra wanted her boys to have the same opportunities and experiences as others kids their age. Her oldest son, Alberto, is fifteen and part of his school’s marching band. His mother never doubted in his musical abilities and is his biggest supporter when he plays percussion. Because the band’s bus is not accessible, Alberto could only perform at home games. The family’s new Bruno lift will allow Mayra to transport Alberto and his wheelchair to all his away games, so he will never have to miss out again!

When our mobility technician, Rick, showed Mayra how to use her brand new Bruno lift, it brought tears to her eyes. She will be able to transport her sons’ heavy wheelchair all on her own. A simple lift can mean so much to those who need it. It means freedom, independence and opportunity. We are truly humbled to have been a part of this experience! Thanks to Be An Angel for helping deserving families like Mayra’s!
