A day with the Texans… ADA style!

It’s a well known fact that many of us here, myself included, at Adaptive Driving Access are huge sports fans. This past weekend was the kick-off to the 2011 NFL season, and hopefully the beginning of a playoff run for our Houston Texans. I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of attending the Texans vs. Colts game with ADA’s owner, Tom Poole, our area BraunAbility rep., Steve Krone, and BraunAbility’s regional sales manager, Matt Ford. A great time was had by all and the home town Texans crushed the Colts (sorry Matt)! Anyone who has ever attended any event at Reliant Stadium can attest to the fact it is a first-class venue and very accessible with great handicap seating. We were reminded of this when we noticed the parking, signage directing accessible travel and from comments made by a few of our great customers we ran in to while at the game. We were also a big hit before the game in the tailgating area when we rolled up in Steve’s 2011 Honda Odyssey Entervan! Lowering the ramp and tailgating from an Entervan is an experience that even people who aren’t football fans can enjoy. Hopefully the Texans will continue to win and TEAM ADA will have more opportunities to test the lowered-floor minivan tailgating experience.

Coincidentally, Sunday was also the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our Nation and it would be wrong for me not to mention this as well. Both the NFL and the Houston Texans did a great job remembering this and celebrating our resilience as Americans. I am not too proud to admit I got a little chocked up listening to the national anthem and watching that 100×50 yard flag cover the entire field. As a veteran myself I know the sacrifice so many young men and women of our armed forces make every day while serving in less than appealing circumstances and environments. I also meet some of these courageous hero’s on a weekly basis when they visit ADA in need of our mobility products due to the effects their own sacrifices have made on their bodies. All gave some, some gave ALL, may God Bless everyone who wears a uniform and puts the safety and needs of others before their own. This includes not only our armed service members but also local police officers, firefighters and EMT’s. Hopefully America will never feel the sting of an attack on our home soil again. But if we do, at least we know that there are those out there that will stand up and fight the good fight! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
